Dear Church,

Thank you so much for your support in recent months of our “one worship” instrumental / a cappella worship time together. Your focus on praising and honoring God, along with a strong sense of family and togetherness, has allowed for God’s love, joy, and peace in our worship.

A few weeks ago, we asked for your feedback on our “One Worship” time together, particularly requesting your input on whether we are accomplishing the good things that we hoped would happen by being together.  Some of the goals we outlined in the spring, prior to meeting together included:

  1. We pray we will fill the auditorium every week.
  2. We will grow in our loyalty to the "one another" family that meets at MX.
  3. We will continue to learn to praise with both instruments and a cappella, allowing an array of gifts to be exercised.   As we said in our recent class on music, we value our a cappella abilities and the versatility it offers to praise God during Sunday worship, in hospital rooms, in our small groups, around camp fires, and wherever the opportunity presents itself.  We genuinely desire to continue this tradition.
  4. We will prepare the worship time with better intentionality, order, and flow to tell God's great story of redemption and renewal.  For instance, this allows the preaching to consistently be later in the worship, after our hearts have been opened to God through the music and prayer.  Jeff can deliver the message once each Sunday morning.
  5. We will not have to set-up the gym for worship.
  6. We will need only one technical team and one praise team each week.
  7. We will have better intergenerational representation during the worship times.

After meeting and discussing as a leadership, our belief is that many of the good things we hoped would happen by being together, have, in various and significant degrees, happened.

Your feedback in our recent survey confirmed this.  While, a few of you preferred the two worship assemblies, with some desiring more instrumental and contemporary music, and others feeling a loss of the traditional church of Christ assembly, more than 80% of the 56 responses believed a great many of the goals are being accomplished and saw the value in continuing to meet together.

So, for the foreseeable future, we will continue to meet as one assembly, starting at 9:30 with the instrumental portion, taking a short time to greet our neighbor, and then begin the a cappella portion so important to our heritage at 9:55.  Our Bible Classes will begin at 11:15 and will last until 11:45 for the Kids’ Classes and 11:55 for the Adult and Teen Classes.

Thank you for your understanding and support, as we allow the Lord to lead, see His Word held high at MX, build up our caring community of faith, and reach new people with God’s grace.

The Elders
